If you’re like most fishermen, you’ve probably invested a lot of money in your fishing equipment over the years. Losing that equipment can mean saying good-bye to fishing as you know it, since replacing your fishing equipment can be very expensive.

In addition to providing fishing boat insurance, Markel offers fishing insurance to help you protect your favorite pastime. Our optional fishing insurance coverage protects your fishing equipment with replacement cost coverage for: 

• Rods and reels
• Lures, rigs and line
• Tackle boxes
• Depth finders
• Trolling motors

Our optional fishing insurance provides replacement costs up to $5,000 for covered fishing equipment. Maximum amount paid per item is $250, with electronic devices receiving a $1,000 maximum per unit. All losses under this endorsement are subject to a $250 deductible per occurrence.

We know how disappointing it can be to miss out on a fishing tournament you’ve looked forward to participating in – especially when you’ve already paid a hefty tournament entry fee.

With fishing insurance from Markel, you don’t have worry about losing that money. Our Tournament Fee Reimbursement, included with our fishing insurance, refunds your entry fee if you are not able to participate in a scheduled tournament due to:

• Bodily injury to you or a family member
• Loss or damage to your fishing boat
• Mechanical breakdown of your towing vehicle while en route to the tournament

But professional anglers are also exposed to additional risks and liabilities. That’s why, in addition to the fishing insurance coverage included in our Fishing Equipment Option, Markel offers another layer of liability protection for professionals.

Our expanded Professional Angler Liability coverage is available for paid professionals who conduct or participate in:

• Fishing tournaments or charity events
• Fishing seminars and workshops
• Distributor or sport shows, and dealer open houses
• Fishing guide activities
• Fishing skill demonstrations to generate income or attract attention to a sponsor’s product
